NUCLEUS TO IMPLEMENT NEW SPAM & VIRUS FIGHTING TECHNIQUES
Effective October 4th 2004 Nucleus Information Service Inc. ("Nucleus") will start implementation of new SPAM and VIRUS fighting techniques on its mail server. Nucleus will require authentication from any customer wishing to send mail through its mail server. Limitations on the maximum number of recipients per email will also be lowered to one hundred.
Although Nucleus has been using SMTP authentication for numerous years, it has never been a requirement. Customers can find information on how to setup their e-mail program at http://www.mynucleus.ca/support/smtp.cfm. Technical support is also available to any customer requiring more assistance.
"Ensuring that our customers have consistent and error-free access to our mail server is essential." said Dave Berzins, President of Nucleus. "We fight SPAM and Virus attacks on a daily basis. This is just another way for Nucleus to continue the fight".
SPAM and virus propagation continue to be a problem on the Internet. Service Providers, large and small, take the brunt of the cost which is associated with server upgrades and Internet traffic. Nucleus, in the fifteen months it has tracked SPAM and viruses, has stopped almost fifty four million items from getting to its customers.
SPAM and virus infections are still growing. "We hope the effect on our customers is minimal as we implement these new policies", said Cheryl McDonald, Chief Operations Officer of Nucleus "Ensuring that our customers receive the high quality of service we are known for is our priority."
